The Living Free Recovery Services staff desires to serve it’s clients with excellence and the love God shows toward all his children. Whether it is the first phone call reaching out for help or the need for support during a crisis, the staff is there in a warm and loving manner helping each individual along the path of recovery.
All of the counseling staff at Living Free Recovery Services are Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors in the state of Minnesota. In addition, they are born-again, Spirit-filled individuals who believe God has called them to work with those struggling with addiction. Along with teaching practical skills, the staff provides a safe environment for clients to share and offers sound biblical principles to guide them in the recovery process. The counseling staff has hope for each client who walks through the door and is committed to doing their best to assist in the change process.
In addition, the office staff desires to make enrollment in treatment as smooth as possible. Office staff assists our clients in getting oriented to the facility and program requirements and is happy to assist you in working with insurance for the services received. Treena Haase, B.S., LADC
Pastor and Program Director
Treena came to Living Word Christian Center at the age of 17 with her parents and recalls sitting in the sanctuary the day the announcement was made of the opening of Living Free Recovery Services as a licensed treatment center. She turned to her mom and said “I am going to work there someday!” After completing her college training at the University of MN, Treena came to Living Free Recovery Services as an intern in January of 1997 and became a full time employee later on that year. Treena has worked as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor for several years and eventually became the Program Director. In 2014 she assumed the role of Pastor over Living Free Recovery Services. Treena is very passionate about the importance of the whole family receiving care. Treena is married, has two daughters and lives in Brooklyn Park.
Sean Miller, B.S., LADC
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
In 2010 Sean arrived at Living Free Recovery Services a broken man. After spending the better part of 16 years running the street, he found himself lost in a dark world of drugs and gang life. Empty and defeated he turned his eyes to heaven and cried out for Jesus. Sean accepted Jesus as his lord and savior in 2010 and began his healing process. In 2011 after completing treatment he became a member of Living Word Christian Center. Sean met his wife Ashley while both were serving on Living Free's leadership team. Sean went back to school in 2011 to obtain his license in addiction counseling. He started his internship in May of 2013 and was hired on as a full time counselor in November of that same year. Sean currently is attending Bethel University and pursuing his Master's degree. Both Sean and Ashley are very grateful for Living Word Christian Center and are honored to be a part of God's plan in helping others find freedom from addictive behaviors.
Cory Farnquist, A.S., ADC-T
Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Cory arrived at Living Free Recovery Services in 2004 after struggling for many years with addiction. His addiction left him feeling regret and hopelessness. Cory had always known there was a God; however had never experienced a relationship with Jesus. After failed attempts at other treatment programs, he found himself walking through the doors at Living Free where he found what he describes as the "missing pieces." He graduated the program in 2005 and offered his life over to Christ’s direction and correction. He began the process of rebuilding a dark and broken life. Soon after this decision, he started serving at Living Free facilitating numerous support groups. In 2010 Cory made the decision to go back to school and received his Associate's Degree in Addiction Counseling. In 2015 he was hired as a part of the Living Free counseling staff. Cory is passionate to be a tool for God helping in the process of full life recovery.
Mariane Tobin is a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business. After graduation from the Medical Secretarial Course, she was employed at the University of Minnesota Hospital and worked for research doctors. After leaving the state for a few years, she returned and worked at the Pillsbury Company for 25 years in their Marketing and Human Resources divisions. Her desire has always been to work in the helping profession and knew one day that she probably would. She left an alcoholic marriage and attended Alanon meetings for many years and didn’t know at the time what the Lord was preparing her to do. In 2000 one of her sons attended the adolescent program at Living Free Recovery Services and that is when Mariane came to Living Word Christian Center and surrendered her life to the Lord. She began working at Living Free in April of 2005 as the Intake Coordinator. She started facilitating the Family Recovery Support Group in 2007. Her heart is to help the addicted and family members and she feels blessed to be workingat Living Free. Mariane has 3 adult children, 1 daughter- in- law, 1 son-in-law, 2 grandchildren and 1 grand pet.
Nancy Hofmann, B.S., LADC
Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Nancy came to Living Word Christian Center in 2004 with her now husband Jeff. Nancy recalls Pastor Mac talking about a treatment center associated with the church and she thought to herself “no way!.” At the time she was employed in retail management. In 2008 Nancy was dissatisfied with retail management and questioned if this was the place that God really wanted her. She began to pray for God’s guidance for her life. Alcohol and drug counseling was dropped into her heart. Nancy was obedient to God’s direction and went back to school at the age of 50 to pursue degrees in alcohol and drug counseling and Christian counseling. Nancy was hired as a counselor at Living Free Recovery Services in 2009. Nancy is passionate about assessments and especially enjoys individual counseling.
Tim Hanschen, Support Group Coordinator
Tim has been leading various support groups in the recovery field since 2000. He believes to lead people to successful recovery, God’s mercy, grace, forgiveness and love must be conveyed on a personal level. He believes healthy relationships are also critical to maintain abstinence. Tim attended Rhema Bible Training Center in 1983 and recently retired from the United States Postal Service after a 37-year career. Tim is passionate about what he does and he loves seeing people healed through recovery.
